The assignment was to make a brand design for a client. I could choose the client freely, but the client for this project had to be a real client. The design products for this project needed to show different designing skills of me as a designer, such as logo-design, layout, web-design, etc.
The clients that I chose for this project is Trond K. Johansen. Trond is running his own carpenter business on his own. The business Is located in a small town in the northern parts of Norway. The business market is local people living around the area.
The business didn't have a logo or a brand design. I have made a logo,, business card, brochure, ad, car-design, clothing design and a website, as well as a brand style guide, for his business. The logo and the other designs needed to make the business recognizable, and it also needed to fit with Trond and the line of business.
When designing this project I felt like I had a lot of creative freedom since my client didn’t have that many specific requirements when it came to the design. His design-requests were that the design of the brand needed to fit with and illustrate a carpenter business. He also wanted a clean and simple design, and it needed to fit with his black work-car.
The style I went for were a modern and geometrical design styles, - two styles that go hand in hand. A modern style likes clean lines and shapes, and so does the geometrical style. You can see that I have implemented both lines and shapes throughout my design to work with the style. I have also focused on keeping the designs balanced since this is also important to the design styles. You can especially see the geometric style in the logo with the rectangular shapes that are shaping the T and the K. To implement the more masculine vibe in the design I’ve used more bold and harsh elements in the design.
